» Medium Rigid Licence (MR)

A Medium Rigid vehicle is any rigid vehicle with two axles, including a truck or a bus, greater than 8 tonnes GVM, plus a trailer of
no more than 9 tonnes GVM.
TransTrain offers two services for licence upgrades to Medium Rigid.  These are Test Only or Training & Assessment.  All of these services are conducted on a one to one basis – you and your Testing Officer / Driver Trainer.  We provide these services statewide.

» Training & Assessment Services
Heavy Vehicle Training and Assessment programs include the practical assessment (no need to do another "test") and also provide additional time in the vehicle, with helpful 1:1 professional training.  There are times set out for each training service – if you need more time this can be provided on an hourly rate within 3 months of your initial service.

» Test Only Services
Where eligible, drivers can book in for a Test Only service for their licence upgrade. The test is of 1.5 hours duration for licences up to Heavy Rigid. The test for Heavy Combination licence upgrades is of 2 hours duration. Tests are offered along a range of approved routes.  TransTrain offers Test Only services at test routes throughout Tasmania.
